Senior College (10-12)

Supporting academic excellence and dynamic learning in the Senior College.

The Essington School's Senior College offers dynamic learning experiences with guidance and support from a dedicated team of educators. The Essington School Senior College experience helps facilitate the transition for students into university and post-secondary studies.

To encourage extension in subjects, and working to their capabilities rather than their year levels, The Senior College refers to Year 10, 11 and 12 as First Year, Second Year and Third Year respectively. This is because our students often complete Year 11 and Year 12 subjects whilst in Years 10 and 11, a key strength of our Senior College program.

We encourage students to build their own educational program, according to their interests, abilities and potential career paths. Academic Programs are negotiated with students in consideration of their post-secondary goals and can be chosen from the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET) Program and the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).

Essington also encourages senior students to pursue non-academic programs beyond the classroom to promote personal development, growth and engagement with the community.

Senior College Philosophy

From the beginning of 2011 The Essington School has offered a unique Senior College program to our students.

This educational journey is very much about where students are going and ensuring that every step of the way students have the necessary support and guidance to get to where they are going.

This philosophy allows students to operate in an adult learning environment, readying them for the next stage of their lives. Our students graduate as global citizens ready to embrace the future.
