    LANGUAGES TEACHER

    The Language and Cultural Learning Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality language instruction in Mandarin Chinese to students at The Essington School. This role focuses on fostering language proficiency while enhancing students' understanding of the associated cultures. The ideal candidate will create an engaging classroom environment that promotes language acquisition and cultural appreciation, develop lesson plans, assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the language program.

    The Language and Cultural Learning Teacher will report directly to the Head of Improvement and Innovation.

    SELECTION CRITERIA

    Essential:

    1. Teaching certification or licensure in Mandarin Chinese both written and spoken.
    2. Proficiency in the Language being taught.
    3. Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
    4. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of theory relating to language learning, professional standards and approved learning frameworks, and contemporary understanding of evidence-based best practice approaches to teaching and learning.

    Desirable:

    1. Previous teaching experience in the chosen language.
    2. Flexibility and competency to teach across other subject areas.

    ICT SUPPORT OFFICER - LEVEL 2

    The primary responsibility of the ICT Support Officer will be to provide a high level of customer service to staff and students in resolving ICT issues and fulfilling and supporting educational and administrative requirements for ICT services. As a member of the small Information and Communications Technology team, the ICT Support Officer will use their exceptional technical skills and their passion for solving real-world problems to assist the various key stakeholders to make effective use of ICT systems as well as guide users in understanding and receiving greatest benefit from their use. The ICT Support Officer will report directly to the Director of ICLT.

    Essential Requirements:

    • Degree in Information Technology or a related field
    • Minimum 5 years experience in ICT Support
    • NT Working with Children check (OCHRE Card)

    ASSISTANT HEAD OF SENIOR SCHOOL FOR WELLBEING & ENGAGEMENT

    The Assistant Head of Senior School for Wellbeing & Engagement will be responsible for developing and leading a strategic approach to wellbeing across Years 7 to 12, advocating for initiatives that enhance student and staff welfare, morale, and culture. Working closely with the Head of Senior School and the Senior School Leadership Team, they will ensure that wellbeing and engagement practices within the Senior School are aligned with the school’s strategic goals and implemented consistently across all year levels.

    SELECTION CRITERIA

    Essential:

    1. Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to advocate for and implement initiatives that strengthen staff morale and foster a positive, collaborative Senior School culture.
    2. Proven ability to interpret and apply policy and legislation to develop effective, practical wellbeing frameworks and procedures for students and staff.
    3. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the capacity to build strategic networks and engage meaningfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    4. Highly developed organisational skills, with experience leading and coordinating large-scale wellbeing and engagement initiatives that support a thriving Senior School community.
    5. Competence in managing complex and sensitive wellbeing matters, ensuring confidentiality, effective case management, and accurate record-keeping.
    6. Expertise in contemporary wellbeing practices, emphasising data-informed decision-making, preventative strategies, and support for mental health and resilience.
    7. Relevant qualifications in Education or a related discipline, with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning in wellbeing and leadership.

    Desirable:

    1. Postgraduate qualifications or extensive experience in social work, wellbeing, or staff support, with a proven ability to apply evidence-based approaches that enhance wellbeing and strengthen school culture.

    PRESCHOOL TEACHER

    The Preschool Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning programs aligned with Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and other relevant curricula, fostering a culture of curiosity and respect, and working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to ensure the success and wellbeing of every student.

    SELECTION CRITERIA

    Essential:

    1. Demonstrated knowledge and application of the EYLF, NQS, and child-centred pedagogies.
    2. Supplementary knowledge Australian Curriculum and Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
    3. Proven ability to plan, implement, and evaluate play-based learning experiences that support each child’s holistic development.
    4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, professional relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
    5. High-level collaboration, organisational and time management skills, with attention to documentation and compliance requirements.
    6. Competence in the use of digital tools to support teaching, learning, and communication.
    7. Commitment to reflective practice, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning.

    Desirable:

    1. Experience working in an early childhood setting.
    2. Regular engagement with professional networks and associations.
    3. Additional training or qualifications in allied health services (e.g. supporting students with additional needs).

    DIRECTOR OF ENGLISH AND HUMANITIES

    The Director of English and Humanities is responsible for ensuring the delivery of a high-quality teaching and learning program across the English and Humanities faculties. The position is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of innovative and evidence-based English and Humanities curricula, programs, and pedagogies for years T – 12, and for building the capacity of others to implement these successfully.

    The position also manages relevant extra-curricular activities and collaborates with others to ensure smooth operation and positive engagement. Working collaboratively with the Senior School Leadership Team, the role drives the faculty's strategic direction in alignment with the schools' standards, values, and strategic improvement agenda.

    SELECTION CRITERIA

    Essential:

    1. Proven ability to design and evaluate high-impact English and Humanities curricula and programs through data-informed practices, that align with Australian Curriculum, evidence-based research, educational standards, and student learning needs
    2. Demonstrated ability to improve student outcomes, with an understanding of the continuity of learning from years T-12, and deliver high-quality assessment tasks, moderation, and feedback on teacher practice
    3. Demonstrated ability to lead the planning and implementation of contemporary and evidence-based professional development to support teachers in developing their knowledge of English and Humanities curriculum areas and evaluate teaching and learning practices for evidence of impact
    4. Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the broader school community
    5. High-level communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to establish productive networks with a range of stakeholders, and interact effectively with people from diverse cultures
    6. Demonstrated strong organisational skills, and the ability to lead and coordinate relevant extra-curricular activities and events
    7. Hold a degree and/or postgraduate qualifications in Education

      Desirable:

      1. Relevant post-graduate or equivalent qualifications/ experiences in areas of English and/or Humanities
