Principal's Message

The Essington School Darwin was established by a group of Darwin parents 23 years ago. It is a parent owned, non-denominational, co-educational school with a reputation for innovation and high quality learning outcomes.

The School initially offered a Montessori Preschool program to a small number of students and then extended into primary education. In 1997 the first Middle School in the Northern Territory was established and a purpose built building completed in 1998.

In 2012 The Essington School Darwin offers child care services (through its two child care licences), a quality Modern Montessori based Preschool program, a value added primary program (Transition to Year 5), a well established and successful Middle School program (Years 6 to 9), and a unique, accelerated senior secondary (Year  10 to 12) program.

In January, 2011, the School opened its senior college, The Essington International Senior College, on the Casuarina Campus of Charles Darwin University. The Senior College offers an accelerated Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET) program with access to University undergraduate programs from Year 10. The Essington School Darwin now provides a unique, seamless, high quality, educational program from Preschool to University.

In 2012 the School commences its new Three Year Strategic Plan that will see the School expand its international programs and links, particularly with member schools of the Council of International Schools (CIS).
