After School Care

The Essington School Darwin runs a supervised After School Care Program for students from Preschool to Year Seven. Our Preschool students remain in the Preschool area for their Childcare. Our Pre-Transition students are collected from class at 11.55 a.m. Transition and Year 1 students are collected from class at 2.25 p.m. The After School Care Centre is located in Rooms MS8 & MS9 from 11.55 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Students may be collected at any time between the end of the school day and 5.30 p.m. They may not leave the After School Care facility until parents or an appointed person collects them from the premises, students are not permitted to meet parents in car parks or surrounding streets. Parents may place their child in the program on either a casual or a permanent basis.

At the end of the school day all students meet for afternoon tea. Snacks include finger food such as cheese, carrot, biscuits, fruit and dips.

Following afternoon tea, students are involved in activities such as Arts and Craft, Videos, Free Play, Drama, Outdoor Activities, Indoor and Outdoor Games. The After School Care Program proves to be a happy and enjoyable experience for many of our Essington students!
